Kids, sorry this isn’t about you. I will definitely congratulate you guys when the time is right though.
Hi Niece #1, Niece #2, Niece #3, and Honorary #4 (I mean you do call me Uncle Jonathan even though I know it is more of a cultural thing that we just call everyone who is older, aunties and uncles.)
Please excuse any typos as it is 4am. Your auntie wanted a snack. And, I have a bit of insomnia, probably because of the coffee I drank during the day. But, I needed to drink it in order to stay awake while driving. Ahhh. The struggles of life. So many paradoxes. Am I using the word paradox correctly?
Anyways, after some digression, back to the main topic.
Yesterday was your graduation day. Your Auntie and I were so proud of you guys graduating from Pre-school, Kindergarten, 3rd grade, and 4th grade. You guys performed wonderfully with skits and songs for the audience and for your peers. Honestly, at your age, I would have been scared and just wanted to curl into a ball and cry or be paralyzed with fear. You all are so confident and capable. I loved how you guys acted out riddles and then your classmates excitedly cheered the answers and I loved most of the values that the school is teaching. One side note though, perfection shouldn’t be the goal because perfection is a moving target and may lead to shame in the future. Strive for excellence. As children of God, we strive to be good stewards of what God gave us.
You guys are growing up to be trilingual which I do hope that you guys will learn to embrace it all with fascination and wonder. Languages and culture are things that you may not appreciate as much now, but will cherish when you guys are older. And, if food and cooking are added then that would be a nice cherry on top.
Congrats again.
With All My Love,
Kaufu (Uncle Jonathan)
