Kids, it is Fall again. This is the first year that #1 is experiencing Halloween. So, maybe I am feeling the feels more. Mommy placed you in a pumpkin with little holes for your legs. And, I am feeling the winter glooms. It is cold and I have to wear long sleeves at night now. Tomorrow we are going to a Fit4 Mom Halloween gathering. You and mommy will be mommy and baby koala. I joked that I would be the catcher. Probably best for me to dress as a Muggle instead.
Recipe: Gnocchi and parm with brown butter
Ingredients:
- A box of gnocchi preferably fall themed like pumpkin.
- a large knob of butter
- a block of parm
Cooking:
- Boil the water in a large pot so that they have room to rise. I forgot to salt the water, but it didn’t seem to matter too much. Throw all of the gnocchi in and take them out when they rise. Drain well.
- Using a small pan, throw a knob of butter in on low medium heat. Wait until the butter gets brown. Particulates with start forming, but determine if you wish for it to be a cleaner sauce and strain them out if you want.
- Plate the gnocchi with the butter on top. Grate as much parm as you want. Salt and pepper.
I’m not really an Autumn type of person. But, the simplicity of the dish just hit home. Sweet, savory, fatty, umami. Yummy. Maybe I need to buy some more pasta packages to have on hand ready. I think I just need to to remind myself that with Fall and Winter that I’m slower. Time to warm up the house or drink some warm drinks.
